The boat was quietly displayed among larger fishing boats at a warehouse
like space of Toba Sea-folk Museum, designed by architect Hiroshi Naito
whom I am a big fan of.
The empty boat was found, the display board reads, by a Japanese
fishing boat at the center of Pacific Ocean, far offshore away from any
human soil. Many marine garbages brought by sea currents and found at
the beaches are ugly, but this boat is beautiful. Something catastrophic
happened when the crew was cruising the boat across the vast ocean, a
sudden storm, a big wave, a cohort of sharks…
Those brave souls on the sea always surprise me.
